MMCA Announces Launch of the BIPOCXChange - Single Solution for BIPOC Media Engagement & Collaboration

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 7, 2022 – The Multicultural Media & Correspondents Association (MMCA) is proud to announce the launch of the BIPOCXChange, a metaverse solution created by MMCA to help Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) media increase ownership and control over how their community’s stories are told.  Free to join, the XChange is designed to provide media owners, buyers, brands, and creators with a single solution to connect with one another, identify needs, understand changing demographics, and reach core audiences.  The ultimate goal for the BIPOCXChange is to increase access for multicultural media in the metaverse, drive coverage and ensure equity and inclusivity on this new platform.

This powerful digital ecosystem seamlessly provides members with the first-ever single solution to all of their BIPOC Media engagement needs, offering access to publications, creators, graphic artists, audiovisual, communications and numerous other services. Through the XChange, members connect, collaborate, and have the opportunity to invest, support, provide services or do business with BIPOC media.

A Newsmaker Space, where members can contribute, access, and repurpose content, the XChange also serves as a Resource Hub, where participants can access news, exclusive data, information, and tools to address BIPOC media pain points.

“The BIPOCXChange is our answer to the marginalization of BIPOC media and by extension their audiences. By utilizing technology to interlink a fragmented ecosystem of BIPOC media, we have created a metaverse solution that informs, educates, and empowers communities of color,” says David Morgan, MMCA president and CEO of the BIPOCXChange. “Through the metaverse we provide brands, agencies, businesses and individuals access to qualified BIPOC talent and to the communities of color that they are often unable to reach.”

“With the metaverse gearing up to be an important part of our culture moving forward, we must be strategic in ensuring that we are creating inclusive spaces for BIPOC creators and communicators to share their stories,” said Deputy Mayor John Falcicchio. “Over the years, we’ve laid the infrastructure for DC to attract technology companies. Now, we are excited to work with organizations such as MMCA to amplify diverse voices and ensure that the metaverse is inclusive and reflects the diversity of the District of Columbia and world-at-large.”

One exclusive offering included with membership is the BIPOCXChange Media Wire, a Web3 blockchain product that disseminates news and information from brands and newsmakers to over 250 Black, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American publishers. The one-stop solution fulfills a dual role by meeting the needs of publishers, editors, and journalists of color at every level of media who are often denied timely and equal access to advertising, capital, and other resources. It also allows brands, government agencies, non-profits, and businesses to reach critical audiences that have remained elusive.
